Installation & requirements
Draft – this text is not final yet.
Omniviu runs on ordinary shared hosting. You don’t need Node.js, WebSockets or an extra server.
Requirements
| What | Requirement |
|---|---|
| WordPress | Single installation, no multisite network |
| Database | MySQL 5.7 or later, or MariaDB 10.4 or later, with utf8mb4 and FULLTEXT index |
| Web server | Apache or nginx (nginx needs an extra rule, see Server configuration) |
| Permalinks | Anything except “Plain” |
| Recommended | Memory limit of 128 MB or more, execution time of 30 seconds or more, HTTPS |
After activation, the overview in the WordPress admin checks these points automatically and shows what’s missing.
A separate WordPress installation for the app
You can install Omniviu on an existing website. We do recommend a separate WordPress installation just for the app, for example on a subdomain such as app.your-domain.com or in a subfolder. That has three advantages:
- Backups and updates stay separate from your public website.
- The theme and plugins of your website can’t get in the way of the app.
- The public site can redirect straight to the app (Settings → Website).
The app always lives at /app/ on your WordPress address.
Multisite
Omniviu is built for single WordPress installations. Multisite networks are not supported at the moment. In a network, the overview shows a notice.
The “Up to 5 Sites” and “Agency” plans refer to several such single installations, not to sites in a multisite network.
