Getting started
In about ten minutes you’ll go from installation to your first shared page. The “First steps” on the overview in the WordPress admin tick themselves off as you go.
1. Check the requirements
You need a single WordPress installation and the Administrator role. The exact requirements are listed under Installation & requirements.
Tip: Ideally, install Omniviu on a separate WordPress installation just for the app, for example at app.your-domain.com.
2. Install the plugin
- In the WordPress admin, open Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the Omniviu zip file and click Install Now.
- Click Activate. The Omniviu overview opens.
3. Finish the installation
The overview shows what’s still missing – for example plain permalinks, a page that already uses the app address /app/, or unprotected file storage on nginx. Most items can be fixed with one click, and there are instructions for the rest.
4. Decide who gets access
Under Omniviu → Settings → Access, choose which WordPress roles may use the app. Any role from Author upwards is possible, and administrators always have access.
5. Open the app
Use Open app in the menu or go straight to https://your-domain.com/app/.
6. Create a teamspace and invite people
Create your first teamspace and invite the people you work with. Everyone signs in with their existing WordPress account.
7. Create or move content
Create your first page or database – or bring your content over with the direct import from Notion.
8. Set up backups
Add Omniviu to your existing backup plugin or your host’s backup. What needs to be included is explained under Backups & restore.
