Moving from Notion
With the direct import, you bring pages and databases from Notion into a teamspace or under an existing page. Alternatively, you can use an export file from Notion.
Start an import
In the sidebar, click + next to a teamspace, or open a page’s menu and choose Import … – you have three options:
| Option | What for | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| Directly from Notion | Import via a connection to your Notion workspace | App admins |
| Notion ZIP | Import from a Notion export file (format “Markdown & CSV”) | Everyone |
| omniviu ZIP | An archive you exported from Omniviu (see Export) | Anyone allowed to create databases at the destination |
Directly from Notion
- Connect: The first time, a guide walks you through creating a connection in Notion. You then enter the access token in Omniviu. It is stored encrypted and never leaves your server.
- Select: Pick pages and databases – right down to individual entries. A search helps with large workspaces.
- Check: The pre-check shows how many pages and entries will be imported and roughly how long it will take.
- Import: You can follow the progress, and pause and resume.
- Read the report: At the end, a report lists exactly what couldn’t be imported.
Tip: If you import again later, anything already imported is skipped. Links and relations to pages that only arrive now are filled in afterwards.
What gets imported
- Content with formatting, images and files, icons
- Databases with all common property types, relations, rollups and sub-items
- Views (table, board, calendar, timeline, gallery, chart) with filters and sorting
- People – matched to WordPress accounts by email address
- Original creation and edit dates as well as authors
- Open comments, if you like
What isn’t imported, or is imported differently
- Formulas and rollups without a matching function are imported as fixed values.
- Buttons, places and verifications are not imported.
- Form, map and dashboard views are not imported.
- Page covers don’t exist in Omniviu.
- Comments: Notion only provides open comments. For them to be imported, the connection in Notion needs permission to read comments.
Everything that’s missing is listed in the final report.
